TWO WORLDS 30…

THERE is a mantra in ‘A Course In Miracles’ that reads: “I am willing to exchange the world I now see for a world that I can love and understand.” This world is still an illusion, the same as the one we now see, but if we seriously want the world we see and experience to change for the better, some earnest inner work on ourselves is needed before we can achieve that aim.

Each one of us must be willing to learn to be honest, responsible and compassionate, within our heart, not outwardly for some kind of reward, before our world will change. Sounds like very old fashioned values and that is exactly what it is.

Can you imagine for a moment, a murderer murdering someone if he holds these values in his heart, or a rapist raping, a thief thieving, a bully bullying? Can you imagine an angry person or a jealous person venting their negative emotions on some poor innocent victim if their inherent nature is peaceful and loving?

Can you imagine there ever being a war between people and nations if the qualities of love and understanding were instilled in mankind? And can you imagine there ever being poverty in the world if we all cared for each other, showing loving compassion and generosity toward all our fellow human beings?

Of course not! It would be a completely different world than the world we now see. And that world begins within us. We must be willing to give up the world we now see before we can accept a world we can love and understand. The world we now see is there for a purpose, for us to learn from, but it’s time for change, it’s time that we moved on.

The warning signs to look out for are greed, selfishness, pride, envy, lust, anger, jealousy, any form of violence – we know them all – The Seven Deadly Sins and all that. We must become consciously aware of what we are doing to this world.

We must learn to be loving and caring human beings. That is our ultimate goal. That is exactly what we are doing here – and it’s up to each one of us to succeed…
