Why So Difficult?

IF YOU ARE A SEEKER OF THE TRUTH like me, you probably read everything you can that might help you become more conscious, to understand life more clearly and be more spiritual. So why is it so difficult to put all that learning into practice? How can we get beyond a simple intellectual understanding of life?

For even though our attempts to learn may be well meant, we still succumb to human traits like sadness, depression, getting frustrated at our family for wasting time being glued to the TV, or getting angry at all those ‘idiot drivers’ who ruin our peace of mind on the road. And we still have our bad days and sleepless nights.

After all our self work and studies, earnestly trying to understand what spirituality and life is really all about, we get discouraged when we still remain ignorant and not having yet arrived at that promised place of divine understanding, love, compassion and tolerance that we know theoretically is the way life is supposed to be?

“The problem is not that we are uneducated.
The problem is that we are educated just enough to believe what we’ve been taught,
and not educated enough to question what we’ve been taught.”

Could it be that maybe in this lifetime we are not meant to have that ‘Aha! Moment’. Maybe we are here to lay the groundwork that will enable us to eventually advance to those higher levels… when we are good and ready. Maybe it can’t happen until we have advanced enough and are aware enough to be able to handle the truth that will set us free.

Perhaps we should just forget all those spiritualistic expectations and be content that we are doing the best we can at this moment in our life’s journey. What if we are part of something far greater than what our present level of understanding can imagine? What if we are exactly where we are meant to be?..

______________I fail to do for you, I fail to do for me.”
