let Go and Be Yourself
YOU NEED TO LET GO OF THE EGO and just be yourself. You don’t need to be anything or anybody. You don’t need to impress anyone. As a society we have become wholly consumed with materialism, of having the latest in everything.
We constantly worry about how we look, how we impress others. What the hell for? Who cares? We are obsessed with trying to fulfill other people’s expectations of us. That doesn’t really make any sense. It just drives us to distraction, always trying to prove ourselves to others.
Even when we succeed at creating the right look, social status, image or whatever it is we are trying to achieve, most people don’t take one bit of notice. They are preoccupied with their own self image, so they don’t give a hoot about you! So why bother?
American spiritual teacher and philosopher Vernon Howard once said, ‘Man has a false sense of identity. He thinks he is his false self, which he is not. He is his True Self, but doesn’t know it.‘
All man’s efforts to impress others can be traced back to his utterly vain attempt to prove this false sense of identity. The egotistical self craves and demands attention and applause, but man is not his ego-self.
Our preoccupation with our exterior persona (the person we think we are) has diverted us from realizing who we truly are.
Once we have let go of our ego state we will feel freedom, a freedom that allows us to truly experience life to its fullest without the weight of expectation holding us back. Life is indeed a wondrous miracle. We just need to become aware of it…
Dan’s Quote: ““Do you live life as though nothing is a miracle…
______________Or do you live life as though everything is a miracle?”
