An Inside Story 35
PERCEPTION
LIKE a mirror, the world we see is merely a reflection of what we have determined as reality – the dominant ideas, wishes and emotions in our mind – That’s how our Mind WorX – We look inside first, decide the kind of world we want to see and then project that world outside, making it the truth as we see it. We are so close to ourselves that this is very difficult for us to see or understand.
We do not see the world as it is – if it is at all. We see a perception of a world filtered through what we believe to be true. In other words, we make it true by our interpretations of what it is we are seeing – and we all see a different interpretation of the world that is unique to us.
Thus, the conundrum is… Is there really a world out there at all or only different interpretations of a world, perceived in our mind? Is the kind of world we experience outwardly, the same kind of world we are inwardly?
Everything we experience in the universe comes through our perception or takes place in our imagination – everything. All that we perceive to be scientific or logical or objective still comes through our senses and thoughts — people, places, events, dreams… everything!
How then can there be any validity to claims of the existence of a universe outside ourselves when we have no way of escaping our own limited viewpoint? How can we prove the existence of anything outside our mind without referring to our mind itself?
Can we prove the universe exists outside our perception of it? How can we be certain we even existed a year ago or a minute ago, or if we came into being just now with all our memories intact, how would we know?
When we aren’t perceiving or thinking about something, does it still exist? If we’re in a room, does anything outside that room exist? Do we bother to manifest that which we cannot perceive?
Do the people in our life continue to exist when we aren’t with them, or is our reality only what we’re experiencing right now? Interesting how the Mind WorX…
