What’s It All About?

THE QUESTION IS…

WHO am I? No-body. Then what am I? No-thing. Well then, what’s the reason for me being here? There is no reason. But what about me, my desires, my efforts, my striving for something better than what I have? Your desires, efforts and striving are all pointless. The person you think you are does not exist. Take away your body, take away your personality and what is left? Nothing but awareness. You are pure awareness.

There is no particular reason for life, it is simply an interesting, joyful journey that you are taking. If you learn something along the way, well and good, it will make your journey more interesting, if you don’t then it matters not. Life is only a dream in the mind of an impish, fun loving, intelligence that is the real you.

Your mind is a blank canvas on which you can paint any life you like, you can choose a beautiful life full of love and laughter or splash paint indiscriminately everywhere, it is up to you. There is no one looking over your shoulder to reward you when you do well or punish you if you make a mess of it.

You are free to paint whatever you like and when you are finished, you wipe the canvas clean and start again. The more life paintings you create, the more skilful the artist you become.

I’m sorry but I believe my world is real, so real I can reach out and touch it. If this was really ‘my dream, my journey’, why is there so much anger, cruelty and violence in the world, why the senseless wars, murders, death and destruction that I see and read about every day…

…and what about all the hardships, the sickness, poverty and starvation, especially of poor innocent children that makes for so many destitute people in the world, that all seems quite real to me?

The world you are seeing is only the world you believe to be true, it is not, it is an illusion. You see anger, cruelty and violence because the person you think you are is angry, cruel and violent. All those sick, poor starving people do not really exist, you have painted them onto your life canvas because you believe in sickness, poverty and starvation.

Why do I see so much sadness and unhappiness in the world? Because you are sad and unhappy. Why do I get angry at people that upset me? What you see in them is really what you see in you. They are only a mirror through which you see yourself. Being upset and angry over their actions is in reality, being upset and angry towards yourself.

Nothing on the outside needs to be changed. It is perfect the way it is. You need to change inside. If you don’t love yourself, you will be unloved by others. If you don’t respect yourself, others will not respect you, if you secretly blame yourself for your own seeming imperfections and shortcomings, you will find fault with every person you come across in your life.

The people and situations out there are not the cause of your pain, you are. They are only the effect. The cause is within you. Change your inner self criticism and insensibility into unconditional love and compassion for yourself and others and your life experience will change magically. Your canvas will then picture a loving, compassionate world.

The only problem you have is you are identifying with the fake personality and body you think you are. Stop your incessant thinking and you will stop your self-identification. Your heartache will then be replaced with joy…
