LOGICALLY, if we were magically transported back to the times of the Bible, we would face a more hostile environment even than it is today. It would be as foreign to us as living on the moon or mars. On the other hand, if Moses, Jesus, Abraham, Mohammed or any other dignitary of those times were to appear in the flesh today, they would be shot on the spot as being suspected terrorists, infidels or aliens – depending who fires the bullet.

Even if they had the chance to explain themselves and who they were, they would not be believed. Yet every week millions of us go to churches and temples all over our world and worship those ancient, archaic idols.

Religion is holding us back with an iron grip. It is as difficult to let go of as giving up oil driven machinery and coal fired power stations. But like them, religion, in the way it is preached and followed today has passed it’s used by date and must go if we are going to continue to evolve as fully adult and response-able human beings.

Even if we are not ‘believers’ and class ourselves as agnostic or atheist or calathumpian, we are still contaminated by a world that is dominated by religion. Apart from the mainstream religions there are the extremist cults and sects that have spread there idealism all over our world like an infectious disease causing as much damage to the evolution of our mind as the plague did to our bodies.

To follow a belief system of any sort really is the blind leading the blind! The hypocrisy of a religious belief is blatantly obvious if we are consciously aware – by looking at religion with our eyes wide open and our mind in gear.

Both the East and the West preach virtues like forgiveness, compassion and understanding, but at the same time, anger and distrust flares between the two sides as the East accuses the West as being infidels. while the West accuses the East as being terrorists, causing unrest and wars between the two that have been fought over the centuries and what we are witnessing in the Middle East today.

All terrorism is carried out in the name of religion – mine against yours. The West is just as guilty as the East. More human beings have been tortured and slaughtered in the name of religion than in any other form of violence – how immature and adolescent is that?

There we have just uncovered a great truth.  Religion is just another form of violence, that’s all it is – and where does any sort of violence originate – in the egos dark domain of the unconscious?

What can we do about it? There is nothing we can or need DO – rather, we must ‘WAKE UP’ and understand something. Our whole problem is we are unaware of the way we are living our lives and the damage we are unconsciously causing to ourselves.

Religion is only one part of the problem and can be a valuable learning tool, if we can look at it with conscious discernment. That is all we really need to do – look and see!

Religion is archaic and can have no place in a world where we are all consciously aware. Each one of us is very special in our own right and has no need to believe in or worship any other apart from our own inner spirit.

Do not believe in or follow anything outside of your self, follow that guiding light which is within you.
