THE WORLD WE SEE IS AN ILLUSION, a dream. It does not exist except in the mind of God. A dream of a world of form, created by God to enable Him to get to know Himself via the soul – and as we are the soul, we are in reality God Himself experiencing that life.

Some religions, philosophies and other teachings try to convince us to be rid of the ego. They say it’s a drag on our progress. The same goes for the body. They try to teach us to meditate, to transcend the body and ego, thus allowing us to get closer to God.

What a load of rubbish! When God created the universe and souls, the ego and body were also a part of that creation and for good reason. They needed to exist for they both play a vital role, in fact without them; God’s experience of Himself would not be possible.

God’s plan for the body was to act as a vehicle for his journeys through many life experiences. The plan for the ego was to be the physical witness to that journey. We can compare the body to a limousine and the ego, its chauffeur.

The job of the chauffeur is to drive the car wherever directed by the passenger, plus keep the vehicle full of fuel, oil and water, tighten any loose nuts, (that can be a problem) and get rid of any waste material.

The soul is the passenger – directions are given by the soul to the ego via intuition. The ego is supposed to dutifully obey, but problems arose when the ego began to think for itself. It thought about the past (sometimes with fondness, sometimes with regret) and anticipate the future (sometimes with eager expectation, sometimes with fear).

Being unaware of what was happening in the present moment because of the countless, noisy past and future thoughts filling the ego’s mind, it could no longer hear the intuitive instructions given by the soul and thus, lost its way. It has been lost ever since…
